I will be starting a walking challenge tomorrow with my job. I am a member of a 10 woman team and our goal of course is to win the challenge. We will be walking our butts off...in my case hopefully literally ...lol to win the challenge. Even if we don't win adding walking to our life will be a blessing to our bodies, minds and souls. I have started walking this weekend to get myself ready for the official challenge. So far, I have walked 8400 steps. That is only what I counted. Not great but its a start.
Based on a website 10.000 steps is 5 miles and this is the number of steps that are recommended for anyone to walk each day. To help calculate the number of steps we walk each day we have been given a pedometer, which is a device that you wear on your hip to measure the number of steps you have taken. These are very inexpensive and can be purchased at Walmart. The ones that we have been given from my job however, are a little more complicated than one you might pick up at Walmart, at least more complicated than the one I had purchased a few years ago. The one I was given actually has a usb cable that we can use to register our steps online for the contest.
I will be posting the number of steps I walk either here on the blog or on Facebook and Twitter, at least once per week. Why not join me in walking more?
I challenge you to at least walk as many steps as I do. Or, beat me by walking more! Either way we both benefit :-)

Think Like a Man Makes 12.2 Million on Opening Night!
According to this post on the Huffington Post website Steve Harvey's debut film Think Like a Man made 12.2 million dollars on Friday its opening night. This appeared to be a shock and was a higher than expected amount putting them very near their estimated total amount for the entire opening weekend of 17 million. The article estimates that at this rate the film may very well achieve 30 million in sales for the weekend. It also was estimated to knock The Hunger Games out of first place. Way to go Steve Harvey.
I went to see this film by myself. I had an invitation for me and my boyfriend to go with a coworker friend, her husband and some other friends of hers...mainly couples I think but I declined. First of all, my boyfriend had absolutely no interest in seeing the movie. Secondly, I did not want to be a third or fifth wheel so I decided to go solo. I casually asked a couple of other people but when no one responded with assurance I did not want to wait around and then end up missing it all together.
My plan was to go on opening night because I feel its important to support black films on opening night or at least opening weekend. However, I did not make it until Saturday and was glad to do the matinee to save a little cash. I will say I enjoyed the movie. It was good. It was not over the top great but it was good. Kevin Hart was hilarious and Taraji is one of my favorite actresses and she did her thing. There were some surprise cast members as well that made it worth the time. I felt completely satisfied after watching this film. And I am looking forward to more positive films like this one. If you have not done so yet, go see this movie.

Being Nosey
Why are some women so nosey?
Why do some women worry about things that have absolutely nothing to do with them?
Well, since sometimes I can be one of those women let me answer this one. Women are nosey because something is in us that just has to know details sometimes. The thing of it is some women are nosier than others. I personally am not the type that will ask a whole lot of prying questions. I love having a good conversation but if I feel a person is not feeling like talking about something I won't push them to talk. However, I know some people who will ask anyone just about anything. This drives me nuts on one hand, but on the other hand I realize that this actually can be a good trait for many reasons. Being able to talk to people and make them comfortable enough to tell you their business is a gift. Oprah, hello...
But at the same time some people get people to tell them things because they just won't leave them alone. My personality is the type to immediately put a wall up when folks start diggin around in my business. I'm like what? Why? You know what I'm sayin?
But not everyone means harm when they ask you things. For some people this is just the way they make conversation. And they can be some of the most caring people.
People who ask a lot of questions is one kind of nosey. Another kind of nosey is someone who sees a situation from the outside in and makes judgements and discusses it offering opinions when no one involved asked. People do what they do for their own reasons. Its none of an outsider's business, note to self!
